The adult moth of this species is brown, with pale broken zigzag submarginal line on each forewing, and a pale mark on the hind margin of each hindwing. The moth has a wingspan of about 2 cms.

There is controversy about the placing of this moth. Although its synonyms Carmara subcervina and Gyrognatha atriceps are sometimes placed in ACONTIINAE, the genus Nechesia is placed by some taxonomists in HYPENINAE.
