Pieter Georgius Tresling was the founder and initial owner of the company Steendrukkerij van Tresling & Co., which he started in Amsterdam in the 1860s. His younger nephew, Johan Frederik Tresling, later joined the firm as a lithographer. He took over operations to run the business following his uncle's death.

Many of the Treslings' lithographs are now considered desirable and collectable.

They printed posters, portraits, and maps, and for years 1873 to 1883 produced the coloured plates for the articles in the scientific journal

  • Tijdschrift voor Entomologie (covering roughly Volumes 16 through 26).
